How to harvest full moon energy – PT1

Welcome back to Thats What Pea Said: Today I thought I’d take the opportunity to share with you 5 ways in which you can harvest the energy of the full moon. I’m a strong believer in moonology and moon magic and I hope that you’ll enjoy reading this post as much as I have enjoyed writing it. I look forward to sharing part 2 over the next month.

The energy during a Full Moon is influenced by it’s current zodiac transit and during this time we may feel that our emotions are heightened and that our emotions are more powerful. In addition to this, our dreams and mental processes may also be amplified. When the moon is full, the Sun and Moon are on opposite sides of the zodiac and this can create both intense and challenging energies. In contrast to this, during this time the sun and moon have create a yin-yang balance and provide us with the blessings of amplifying our visions and magical manifesting possibilities.

Connect With The Moon

There are a number of ways in which you can connect with the moon, although the most obvious is to take time to look at the moon and admire her beauty. Alternatively, if you are unable to see the moon you can take a moment to visualise her being full. Whether you can see the moon or not, her energy must be present and you can utilise it within your magic. A number of ways you can connect with the moon are singing, dancing, chanting, speaking with gratitude, offering blessings and manifestations and affirmations. If you work with a specific moon goddess, you can take this opportunity to speak with her directly.

Practice Gratitude

There are many positives to keeping a gratitude journal and practicing gratitude and the full moon provides the perfect opportunity to reflect on what we are grateful for. You can practice gratitude without a journal, however I feel that using a journal helps me to focus my thoughts and intentions. When we practice gratitude we open the door to more blessings. Studies show that practicing gratitude improves our sleep and overall healthy and when we take the time to acknowledge what we have in our life and what we are grateful for this sends a powerful message to the universe to give us more of what we love.

Journaling

There are endless types of journals which you can keep and connect with. Journaling has many positive effects which you can enjoy including reducing stress, improving memory, self awareness and mindfulness.

One of the lovely things about journaling is that there is absolutely no rules and you can express your thoughts and feelings in whichever way you feel most comfortable. You don’t have to use words, you can use illustrations, scrapbook techniques or any other artistic medium of your choice. Your journal is for you to express your emotions and reflect however you feel comfortable.

Dancing

Dancing is one of my favourite ways to connect with the moon and her energies. Movement is such a liberating and wonderful way to get our energies flowing. You don’t need to be able to see the moon in order to dance and you can enjoy this activity both indoors and outdoors. Personally, during the colder months I like to light incense, set an intention and listen to music which makes me feel empowered and at one with myself. I believe that the energies created by dancing allows me to amplify my intentions. Dancing also enables us to shake off negative energies and can give us a little lift and boost our mood.

Meditation

Meditation has become a popular method of taking time out to rest our minds and focus on both our emotions and what we would like within our lives. Meditation is a powerful technique for manifesting and to amplify the benefits its important to think about what you wish to focus on. You may choose to focus on a mantra, an affirmation, a sigil, a visualisation, a magical intent or your breath. It’s also important to remember that it is natural for your mind to wander and so it’s beneficial to remove all distractions and not put too much pressure on yourself – if you find your mind wondering, take a moment to reset and re-direct your mind back to your focus.
