10 Tips To Awaken Your Inner Morning Person

Welcome back to That’s What Pea Said
Have you caught up with my latest post: An Introduction To Journaling?

If you follow me on social media, you’ll know that I’m categorically not a morning person, not by any stretch of the imagination – However, I rather like the idea of becoming a morning person and have come to the realisation that this is a lifestyle which I’d like to try and adapt to. Anything is possible…

Due to the nature of my chronic illness my sleep schedule is a little all over the place and between this and my work schedule, I don’t really follow a routine, however this is something I will address at a later date…

Are you a morning person?
Or, would you like to try some simple tips to give your morning a fresh burst of energy?!

Pixee Pea | Thats What Pea Said

Exercise: I know this may sound like hell, but even a short session can shake and wake you up… A short burst of exercise will release endorphins, shake off your sleep and kick start your metabolism for the day.

Stretch: This is especially important if you spend the majority of your day sat at a desk and hunched over a computer, or phone. Simple stretches or some basic yoga can help prevent damage to your posture.

Wake up with a purpose: Before you go to bed write a list of the things you’d like to achieve the next day. This doesn’t have to be a to-do list but when you wake you’ll feel a sense of purpose and motivation.

Do not press snooze: As tempting as it is, pressing snooze and trying to get an extra couple of minutes sleep isn’t beneficial and will potentially make you feel worse and more lethargic. Kick yourself out of bed in the morning and see how ditching the snooze button makes you feel – you’ll be surprised!

Postpone checking your socials: This is your morning to focus on you… Other peoples problems can wait until you’re ready to tackle the day. Forming this habit is really beneficial and may improve your sleep.

Dedicate 10 to improving yourself: It’s amazing how much you can achieve in just 10 minutes! Perhaps, learn a new language, read a book, meditate, declutter a draw. You’ll be surprised what you can achieve just by implementing this task into your mourning routine… I’d love to hear your suggestions in the comments

Tackle the hardest task of the day: This is an effective method of getting your most difficult task our of the way and once you’ve completed this, everything else will be easier and that’s positive. Furthermore, you can crack on with the simple tasks without this hanging over you.

Fuel your passion: Give yourself 15minutes each morning to focus on something you love! This task will lift your mood and get your creativity flowing, making the rest of the day a more enjoyable experience.

Practice gratitude: The universe gives back what we put in… Studies show we can change and improve our thoughts by practicing gratitude: give it a try and each morning list 3 things you’re grateful for.

Listen to music: Music makes everything better (fact) so start your day with some mood boosting music tunes. This is also great excuse not to turn on the TV and focus on external influences, this is your morning, remember to focus on you… What are your favourite motivational songs, I’d love to hear them!

  1. I started waking up at 5am at the beginning of the year. I practice many of the things you suggest in your post. I can’t even begin to tell you how much better I feel. Glad there are people like you writing about the importance of morning routines!
